“Black Cloud” from Morrissey’s Years of Refusal

If you’re anything like me, then you understand what it’s like to constantly feel as if you’re wading, neck-deep in fan mail. (If you’re nothing like me, then trust that this can be a bit of a chore.) Anywho, it seems that so very many of you are simply dying to know what it’s like to be MissMaggie, and what one would have to do to be just. like. me. Well, I’ve got a secret for you, doves - it’s all in the details.
For instance, if you want to be like me, then this is how Tuesday, February 17th would have gone down for you: You wake up around 10 am, reheat some day-old coffee in the microwave, eat two pieces of cold red pepper and goat cheese pizza for breakfast, and then promptly download Morrissey’s newest, Years of Refusal, which you then listen to several times through while taking your noontime bubble bath, marveling at how it just might be Moz’s best solo work to date. Then, carrying aforementioned album on your iPod, you head to the nearest soulless corporate bookstore where you listen to “Black Cloud” on a loop as you scowl at the barista when she asks if you want whipped cream on that, then proceed to read books you have no intention of ever purchasing for the next two hours. Head home, drink wine, and eventually fall asleep on top of the dog.
And that’s really all it takes to be fabulous me, sweeties! And remember - heavy black eyeliner is optional, however always a nice touch.
