The Submarines - “1940” from Honeysuckle Weeks

Blake Hazard and John Dragonetti are the husband and wife duo who comprise The Submarines - a band that’s been making the rounds for a few years now, although I’ve only recently become a fan. Their sound is delicate, dreamy and sweet, but not in a particularly saccharine way. Although “1940” isn’t truly indicative of their typical sound, it’s one of my favorite tracks on the album. Thus, I share.
(Apropos, I just learned that Hazard is the great granddaughter of F. Scott Fitzgerald, which explains some of the melancholy, perhaps. Runs in the family, eh?)
