The Black Lips - ”Body Combat”

If you had put on The Black Lips’ new album 200 Million Thousand twelve years ago, when I was a fifteen-year-old-freshman-in-high-school-metro-detroit-punk-rock-snob sitting in my friends’ basements listening to LPs, I would’ve been pretty excited. That is to say, I would have been “pretty excited” provided you HADN’T told me that it had been released AFTER 1985 …
…And really, why would I have thought otherwise?
This album is everything from The Rolling Stones’ 12X5 to The Dwarves’ Horror Stories; The Velvet Underground’s The Velvet Underground to Frank Zappa’s Sheik Yerbouti; The 13th Floor Elevators’ Easter Everywhere to The Stooges’ The Stooges… and damn, that’s a lot of from’s-to-to’s!
P.S. Stand back from the album cover … Man that’s some optical illusion shit right there!
