If you’re into white noise and the Beach Boys in a lo-fi garage-punk frequency then I have just the album for you. Wavvves (three v’s) by Wavves (two v’s) is what you might call cacophony at first listen, but underneath all that static are rebellious tunes with a hard edge. Nathan Williams, the 22 year old San Diego beach bum behind Wavves, has been compared to bands like No Age and a male verison of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Well with songs like “No Hope Kids”, “So Bored”, and “Weed Demon”, I for one am strangely addicted. But for those who take pleasure in easy beats this album is probably best enjoyed in small doses.
