HATING ON:
“Young Adult Friction” - The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

I’m just going to come out and say it: I just do not understand why all the fuss about this band. From what I can tell, throw-back pop act The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are currently ALL THE RAGE among the indie rock hipsters - Pitchfork gave their debut LP a impressive 8.4, they’re all over the blogs, and I hear that theirs was the “must see” see at SXSW - but I just fail to see why. I mean… they’re fine, I suppose, but I downloaded the album, listened to it once, and have absolutely no compulsion to listen to it again. ”Young Adult Friction” is probably the best song of the bunch, but I can’t help but think that even their best is, at best, fairly pedestrian.
I. Just. Don’t. Get. It.
Do you?
